Our Future …

St Martin’s and Health All Round, the local community health programme, have formed a creative partnership to provide an exciting new resource to benefit the whole community in the Gorgie/Dalry area of Edinburgh. Please see our latest leaflet for the full story of our plans.

And visit this page to read the story of our 3 intrepid climbers as they undertook the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for our Community Resource Centre.

Once developed, St Martin’s will provide accommodation for several community organisations. It will be a safe and welcoming place, providing practical, flexible and appropriate worship and meeting space for different groups, events and information distribution… a resource for the whole community. We need to raise in the region of £500,000, over the next year, to make this vision a reality.

Most importantly, please remember this project in your prayers – the partnerships being formed, the fundraising efforts, the work to be done and the people who will be using and working in the building.

What are we fundraising for?

St Martin’s is situated in an area dominated by tenement flats and people with a lower wealth, health and educational attainment.  The lack of funding for advice and information places and proper open meeting spaces has been a concern for people in the area for some time.

In addition, Health All Round is under threat due to the forthcoming closure of Springwell House.

The church is currently widely used by a number of community groups and organisations. However, it does not have disabled access and is in urgent need of renovation (including running hot water, toilets and proper kitchen
facilities).

The new St Martin’s Community Resource Centre will be managed by a new charity and all users will be members of the company. St Martins congregation, Health All Round and Spokes will be main tenants of the building, but many others will use the new centre for a wide range of activities.

Upstairs:

  • A modern kitchen

  • Smaller meeting room

Downstairs:

  • Full disabled access via lift from upstairs
  • Modern toilets
  • Office space for community organisations
  • Meeting rooms and consultation rooms
