Annual Art Exhibition and Concerts: 15-22 August 2010
Every year during the Festival month in Edinburgh, St Martin’s hosts an Art and Craft Exhibition showcasing the work of artists and craftspeople from the local area of Gorgie and Dalry. The exhibition began in 2005, and has been growing ever since so that last year in 2009 there were more than 35 artists represented and over 150 works of art, including photography, painting, glasswork, woodwork, knitting, quilting and upholstering.

This is a week when the church is open, with opportunities to meet friends and hear musical concerts. Some of the exhibits and cards are for sale during the week.
Each year there is a theme for the exhibition, which some of the exhibits lead us to think about it. This year’s theme is ‘Journeying Together’ to mark an important stage in the life of Partner Churches – the ecumenical covenant was signed by St Martin’s, St Colm’s, St Michael’s and Gorgie in March 2010. This agreement shows our joy and commitment to work and grow together as churches in Gorgie and Dalry. However, the theme also reflects many parts of life in our communities and our world, and mirrors the growing concern for unity between peoples and nations, in families, and in partnership with the world around us. As in previous years, the theme is there for those who like to work to a theme, but it can be interpreted in any way that appeals to you.
This year we are delighted that local musicians have offered their talents for concerts every night. These concerts are free, and will last between 30-60 minutes.
If you would like to exhibit your work in this exhibition, please read the terms and conditions. We need to know by the end of June that you wish to exhibit and by the end of July we should have a list of what you will be exhibiting so that we can start the planning and catalogue. Please contact us via here. This entry form should be brought along to the church when you deliver your work.
We are part of the Free Festival – lots of free shows and exhibitions around Edinburgh.
